Love Actually (2003)

It’s been 10 years since Love Actually came out. So the movie has been getting some attention online, which I totally love. It’s one of my favorites and everyone is talking about it! Yay!

Buzzfeed even took the opportunity to make a Which Love Actually Character Are You? quiz. Hooray! I’m Natalie.

That result isn’t that surprising because, well, that character and I are a lot alike. I might accidentally use foul language when meeting the Prime Minister on my first day. Not intentionally, of course. It would just kind of happen and then everyone would console me, but somehow it’d all turn out alright.

The thing I love most about this movie is how it tells the story of all these different characters and how they find love around the holidays. It’s beautifully crafted and delightfully woven together. But that’s just my humble opinion.

I read some reviews recently about how Love Actually is just a big mess of unrealistic love stories. One critic called it a “stew” of too many plot lines. Somewhere else I read about how it’s a sexist film because of the weak female characters juxtaposed against strong males in positions of power. Some other folks just called it awful. All I hear is haters hating! Ha.

But, whatever. I love it.

And I will continue to love it, actually. Because I think it’s beautiful. Every time I watch the movie, I fall in love with it all over again.
