Myriad Media, a production company who has been in business for more than 20 years, is seeking extras for an upcoming shoot. This is a volunteer opportunity and information about it is below. So take a close look:

Myriad Media is seeking 20-30 extras for a corporate drama film shoot in west Raleigh on Saturday, September 27th. Everyone is welcome! No acting experience necessary!

Extras will be needed from 4:00 – 6:00 pm, and will play a crowd of onlookers watching the response to a building fire. This position is unpaid, however you will get the opportunity to see a film production crew in action and participate in a fun video shoot.

If interested please email your full name, phone number, email address, and availability to marisa@myriadmedia.net. Further details on location and times will be sent out next week.

Now, here’s why I think you should volunteer. Right now.

The folks at Myriad Media do such great work. This is a wonderful opportunity to see what happens behind the scenes of an awesome local production as an extra. Plus, if you’re dreaming of becoming a filmmaker this is the perfect way to keep that dream alive by watching the action.

No more day dreaming; get off the couch and be a part of something big.

My next film is Brewconomy, a documentary about N.C. craft beer.

You learn set by culture by being on set, even as an extra. Here’s a behind the scenes look at my next documentary, Brewconomy, which Myriad Media helped us shoot starting on day one of production. Left to right: Dan Gridley, Michael Garske, and Aaron Bittikofer.

You can also learn the set culture, which is huge. This is crucial for people who are just starting out because you don’t exactly see this written in the books; you have to learn by doing. You’ll get a chance to see the very important rules that go with being on set: showing up on time, acting professional, and keeping quiet when they ask you to — just to name a few.

Not only that, Myriad Media gave us something incredible: the opportunity to do some in-person networking at the most recent TriFilm social. They were so kind and generous with their space and time. They went above and beyond by even offering door prizes! Plus, they provided us with delicious food, sweets, and incredible beer.

This is a chance to give back to a business that has already given us so much. They say they need 20-30 extras. Let’s show them how strong this film community is and give them an overwhelming response, eh?

Much love, y’all. Let me know if you have questions!

PS: If you haven’t heard, I’m making improvements to TriFilm. Be one of the first to hear about it by adding your name to the list here: trifilmsociety.com. Something big is coming soon and I don’t want you to miss out!
