The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival starts today! It’s one of my favorite times of the year. I can’t wait.

If you’ve never been, I highly recommend that you get yourself to Full Frame — no matter whether you’re a local or out-of-towner. Even if you’re not the biggest documentary film fan. No matter. It’s such a fantastic film festival.

This year I’ll be volunteering as part of their social media team. I’ll tweet, post pics, and blog throughout the weekend so follow along if you wish. Next week’s blog posts will likely be about the fest as well. Basically, you’ll be hearing a lot from me about Full Frame so prepare yourself.

Why do I love Full Frame so much? It always feels like homecoming. I don’t know how else to explain it. These are my people.

Put yourself in my shoes. I spend the rest of the year working so hard on reading, watching, keeping up with industry news, working on my own films, etc. This feels like one of the biggest times out of each year that I get to completely indulge by talking with other filmmakers, watching great docs, listening to the industry leaders talk about what’s taking shape, and so on.

It just feels like home. It’s the feeling of being around like-minded people, cared for, and yet simultaneously challenged to be a better person. I don’t know how else to put it.

So, yeah. I’m incredibly excited about the fest this year! Can’t wait.

Will I see you at Full Frame? Please tell me in the comments below if you’re going. What do you plan on watching? What’s your favorite part of the festival? Wanna meet up for lunch?
