This is a question I get a lot. Where do you rent film / video equipment in North Carolina? Well, the answer depends on what you’re trying to accomplish. Here are a few places I know about.
In my experience, there are two ways you can go about renting: from a local rental house / production company or a rental website. What’s the difference? We’ll get into that below.
Companies with Gear
Companies with gear are, well, companies that have gear available for rent. Most of these companies are local, they probably rent gear all the time, and it might be easier to build a long-lasting relationship with them since you can say hello or pick up gear in person.
In alphabetical order, here are some of the companies that I have worked with or heard great things about from other filmmakers:

Rental Websites
Rental websites connect you, the renter, with people who have available gear. These sites aren’t all that new; they’ve been around for a while. To be clear, I’m not vouching for or recommending these strongly, as I don’t have enough firsthand experience with them. But I think they’re worth exploring if you’re looking for gear.
