I got my mind on my money and my money on my mind.

I’m not cool enough to use those lyrics for doc filmmaking am I? Yeah, I didn’t think so. Fine, moving on.

Funding documentary filmmaking has definitely been on my mind these past few weeks. I’ve been doing A LOT of grant research. It’s kind of exciting. Filmmakers want to fund their films so that they can be even better, amiright?

Seems like there are a lot more opportunities than there were a few years ago. Maybe that’s my perception? Not reality? Either way, I’m happy that these grants for filmmaking are easy to find now.

This year PBS’s POV published a list of resources for filmmakers, which I blogged about in May (read it here), and includes a list of documentary funding resources. Filmmaker Magazine recently published a list of upcoming grant deadlines. And I’ve seen quite a few film festivals, like Full Frame, tweeting and posting about upcoming deadlines.

I’m digging this excellent use of the internets and social media, y’all! Keeeeeep it up. It has made my own research on this new doc infinitely easier and more enjoyable. Woot!

Now. Onto finding that grant writer to join my team…
