Vimeo On Demand sounded awesome when it was launched. I’ve been following along ever since, although I confess that I haven’t been watching as closely as I’d liked since this was a busy year for my personal life. But now I find myself in a better space mentally, so I am revisiting this as an indie film, self-distribution method.

Some docs I already like available on Vimeo On Demand. That’s a fantastic thing. Nice to feel like you’re in good company, you know?

For example, Beauty Is Embarrassing is an awesome documentary film, which I’ve previously written about (read it here). You can rent Beauty Is Embarrassing here for just $5.00. I’ve also heard great things about Miss Representation, and can’t wait to rent it. I’ll continue looking through what’s available in the documentary film genre.

One thing is certain: I definitely judge a film by it’s poster. Since Vimeo requires a poster for your VOD film, it’s smart to make sure it’s a good one. And if you’re film has made it through the film festival circuit, those laurel leaves are worth putting on the poster. (Thank you, Captain Obvious.)

Anywhooo, step one in my Vimeo On Demand adventure is complete. I upgraded to a Vimeo Pro account this week for $199. I’ll share more info when the time is right!
