The Documentary Summit was held in Raleigh at the Hilton on Day One. It will move to Trailblazer Studios in Raleigh on Day Two.

Yesterday was day one of the Documentary Summit. It’s a two-day event organized by Andrew Zinnes (@docsummit), author of The Documentary Filmmakers Handbook. I flipped through the book yesterday and there were some great interviews in it.

The Documentary Summit is not quite a workshop, not quite a conference. Instead it’s been a chance to comfortably and casually hear panelists talk about filmmaking. So filmmakers talk about filmmaking? I can always appreciate that. There’s also been plenty of time to meet other summit attendees and learn about what they’re working on.

Summit panelists have included filmmakers like Joanne Hershfield, Cynthia Hill, Rebecca Cerese, Eric Johnson, Jeffrey Scott Pearson, Steve Milligan, and Elisabeth Haviland James. Today we’ll hear from more great folks, including Skip Elsheimer (who helped me digitize footage for Abandoned Allies). For the entire Documentary Summit Raleigh schedule, visit documentarysummit.com.

If you want to follow along online, I’m tweeting pictures and quotes from the summit: @cammicam. You can also go to my profile page on Instagram to follow along with the photos I post. After the Documentary Summit ends, I’ll post more in-depth information in the following days.

Be sure to follow the entire conversation with the hashtag #docsummit. Go to twitter.com/search and type in “#docsummit” without the quote marks in the search field. Folks like Malaika Mose, @malaikamose, have been tweeting great info from the summit so you can see her tweets there as well.
