Don’t forget! The Second Sunday Film Series is happening this Sunday at 4:00 pm at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro, N.C. Get more information about the film series here.

From their website:

The ArtsCenter has a regular monthly program of showing local fiction and experimental films on the second Sunday of each month. Every second Sunday at 4 PM, a program of locally-produced short narrative / experimental films is shown, followed by a lively discussion with the filmmakers.

The program is managed by Jim McQuaid, founder of a local filmmakers group (TFSIGNC), ArtsCenter Stage Director, Jeri Lynn Schulke and ArtsCenter Marketing Director, Adam Graetz. Schulke, Graetz and McQuaid review film submissions and construct programs with a wide variety of films each month. The film series seeks to provide a consistent venue to show the work of filmmakers working in the fiction, narrative and experimental side of the art. (The film series does not show documentary films at this time.)

They do a fabulous job curating the films, bringing in a captive audience, and hosting an interesting conversation afterwards. I get questions from folks frequently, seeking a way to plug in to the local scene. If you want to learn more about local, indie filmmaking this is a great place to start.

This is just my humble opinion, mind you, but I think it’d also make a great date night. Your date will be so impressed that you are in tune with the local community, support the arts, and want to share cultural things together. Watch out! 🙂
