It’s a pleasure to announce that the next TriFilm social will be held at the Poyner Spruill, LLP, office in downtown Raleigh, N.C., on Thursday, May 16th, 2013, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

Register using the ticket form below or visit the event page.

More info about this event

Guests of legal drinking age (21+ years old) are invited to join us for a chance to meet, mingle, and chat with local film and television professionals. It’s a floating event so come any time between 6:30 and 8:30 pm. This is a networking event so it’s totally appropriate to bring business cards if ya got ’em.

The folks at Poyner Spruill are kind enough to host us so be sure to check out their entertainment website and learn more about what they can do to help you as a filmmaker. They can do a lot to help your filmmaking efforts so learn what you can from the site and find a rep at the social to chat more. I’ve found them to be very kind, professional, and knowledgeable folks.

Not familiar with DTR (downtown Raleigh)? Get directions to the building and find out where to park before you set out that evening. Don’t get lost and frustrated en route; plan ahead if you’re not familiar with the area.

Please note: there is a max capacity for this social so please register to attend. These events typically sell out so be sure to sign up soon or you’ll miss out. Tell your friends about it now so they can register, too.

And do us a favor, eh? If you decide later on that you can’t make it (got sick, change in schedule, or whateves), be sure to cancel your order so we have an accurate head count. If it sells out that’ll free up space for folks that really wanna be there. It only takes a minute and you can find directions on how to cancel your order here.

Got questions about the social? Use the comments section below to ask me about it. I’m happy to share more details if you need ’em.

A little background about TriFilm

In 2009 I thought it’d be fun if some of the folks I knew got the chance to meet each other over beers. Then I thought it’d be fun to open it up to the public in case others wanted to join us in our film geekery. I tweeted about it and BOOM: the first TriFilm event was born.

That first social was held in January 2010 in downtown Raleigh. That bar has since closed but the TriFilm socials have evolved. They’ve grown into something a little bigger based on the feedback I get. It seems other people want a stronger, tightly-knit, more accessibly community and plenty of opportunities to geek out about their work together.

These socials aren’t meant to compete with the already existing, very strong film groups in the area. Instead, they offer a chance for folks in each of those groups to come together and see what’s shakin’. It’s a chance for us to all come together briefly, support local businesses, and learn more about our community — all while enjoying something refreshing like a cold beer.

While TriFilm continues to evolve, the goal remains the same: provide opportunities for film and TV professionals to meet, mingle, and eventually collaborate. It’s pretty simple, don’tcha think?

If you want to help out, please let me know. I’m doing this on my own time because it’s fun but it also takes a lot of time and energy. So I could use some help.

Send this blog post to your friends, invite them to the socials, and support the businesses that are hosting us. Tweet while you’re there with the hashtag #TriFilm. Post pics of you chatting with your friends at the socials. And/or connect with me to help plan the next one. I could use your feedback, energy, and enthusiasm to keep this thing going. I want it to be fruitful for everyone involved, ya know?

Looking forward to seeing you all there. Can’t wait to hear about what you’re working on. See you soon!
